A recent hospital stay has left me with a very expensive bill because I was out of network. My insurance company is giving me the run around with inconsistent explanations. I'm trying to find any reliable information I can to negotiate with the hospital and/or my insurance company. Also, are there any consumer groups out there to help people like me? My insurance company blames the hospital and vice versa. No one is willing to help. I'm willing to pay my bill but I want a fair deal.

  1. i know only one website that is very good and provide full detail that is http://wwwinsuranceplan4u.com

  2. Here is a website with general information about the appeals process and much more: http://www.medicarerights.org/help.html

You may also get information from the National Council on Aging: http://www.ncoa.org/

Your state Health Insurance Assistance Program may also be able to help: here is the website: https://www.shiptalk.org/Public/home.asp...

I don't know of any websites that actually give repricing or usual and customary charges. You can contact Medicare to see if that information is available to the general public.

  3. It depends... Did you have a surgery? or were you just hospitalized for a few days?

Try searching for the same of the procedure & usual & customary  in a browser... or, if you were inpatient, without a surgery try the phrase 'semiprivate room rate' & usual & customary.

Or, I could probably find it online, but, I need to know what the service was & a zip code of the hospital.
