i want to model my new bedroom (we're moving in a couple months) and my parents said that i had to have the plan for it by the day we move. I want it to be like a swanky hotel room, but it cant be very expensive. I would appreciate a website that could help me. Like two websites: one to help me pick a floor plan, and one to help me pick the furniture and decorations.

my budget in total is $1000 for a bed sheet and comforter set, furniture, and decor.

thanks everyone!

  1. Well I'm not sure about the floor plan, but I might be able to suggest some ideas for the decor. I suppose at a $1000 budget, you won't be getting much new furniture, but keep in mind what basic elements hotel rooms always have: A bed with a basic comforter and sheet set, balanced by a nightstand on either side of the bed with lamps, a tasteful but usually bland photo or painting over the bed, a dresser or media console, a comfortable chair, side tables, or a writing desk. What's usually so nice about hotel rooms is that they are simple and have the basics of what you need to relax and enjoy yourself all contained in one room. If you don't already have these elements of furniture and they don't fit into your budget, it might be difficult to complete this look. I'm not saying you need to have a writing desk and two overstuffed chairs to make it work, but it might help. Also think about keeping all the furniture simple, sleek, and coordinated.

When it comes to choosing your decor, come up with one color scheme or idea and work with it. It will make shopping easier and you'll have a much better look than if you come up with a complicated scheme. Then once you've completed your color scheme, you can throw in extra elements to give it more dimension. I would also advise picking one area that you want to spend most of the money and buying cheaper pieces for the rest of the room. For example, you might want to get sheets with a high thread count or in a luxurious material like satin, and decorate the bed with lots of silky throw pillows. Then you could buy simple lamps and a big chair from a garage sale or discount store and also throw a pillow on that.

I think the most important thing to remember for  a hotel look is to have the basics done well, and then very few accessories. A couple candles should be enough.

As far as websites, the best place I can think of to get inspired would be hotel websites themselves. Most hotels show pictures of their rooms and that would give you inspiration for what you want. Then go to the websites of home stores like crate and barrel, target, ikea, world maket, etc. to find what you like.
