  1. do you have a specific ethnicity?

    if not, these are general...

    ancestry.com

    genealogy.org

    www.census.gov/population/www/ancestry...

    www.kindredkonnections.com

    www.ancestryconnections.com/

if you are of different ethnicities, view these:

    www.africanancestry.com

    www.germanculture.com.ua/library/weekl...

    www.irishtimes.com/ancestor/

    www.irishgenealogy.ie

    www.jewishgen.org/

    www.ancestry.co.uk/search/rectype/vita...

if you are looking for ancestry software:

    www.familytreemaker.com

    www.genopro.com/

  2. A few free sites, which will help you create a family tree are:

familysesarch.org, owned by the LDS Church.

    rootsweb.com, a Q&A forum, owned by ancestry.com.

    A few paid sites are:

    ancestry.com

    genealogy.com

Both offer a free trial period.

I subscribe to a paid site, for the advantages of accessing Census Records, military records, etc., as well as, other subscribers trees.

It's less expensive than driving 4 hours to spend a week-end researching in my dad's hometown.

myfamily.com is a free site where you can build various sites for family, friends, clubs/social groups, church groups, classmates/class reunions and other specialty groups. Tabs within the various sites include, family trees, discussions, events, recipes, photos, videos and more.

It's similar to myspace, only more private.

It's a great place to keep your various groups separated.

  3. http://www.meredith.edu/grammar/plural.h...

That site won't help you find out your heritage, but it *will* help you use apostrophes correctly.

  4. I believe that my grandparents use a site called ancestry.com
