  1. Both are the same.  Its in weight not volume.

  2. The weight of both is the same---- a ton.

But if you meant which one would be heavier,

    certainly a ton of bricks.

    savithri

  3. both are a ton

  4. they Will both weigh a ton

  5. Wow that's so extremely clever. Not.

Whoever said "because air in it" you're wrong. It's STILL a ton. She specified that already.

  6. If its a ton, it shouldnt matter if it is bricks or sand. [I think i have heard this one before anyway.] A ton is a thousand pounds no matter what it is made up of.

  7. both are same

  8. They weigh the same ...but....

A ton of sand is heavier than a tonne of bricks by 40 pounds.

    1 ton = 2240lbs, 1 tonne = 1000 kg = 2200 lbs.

A ton of anything weighs the same...2240 lbs.

A ton of polystyrene would weigh the same too, you'd need a lot of it though.

ryprz713...A ton is NOT a thousand pounds...

    112 lbs = 1 cwt (hundredweight)

    20 cwts = 1 ton

    so 1 ton = 2240 lbs.

  9. Well, they technically weigh the same, a ton.

However, if you were to put them in a crate each, both of the same weight, and the bricks' dimensions don't fit exactly into the crate, then I could safely say that the bricks crate would weigh more, since air fills the spaces in between, and yes, the air will contribute to weight (after deducting the weight of the crate from both crates). Whereas each sand particle is so small that they can fit into every bit of the crate.

  10. Don't be silly: a tonne of elephants beats both.

  11. Of Course, Ton of bricks.

  12. Weight of a ton of sand is more than a ton of bricks because of the air trapped in the sand .

  13. depends on which one is dropped on ya,

try getting out from under a ton of bricks!!!!

  14. Since they're both a ton, they both weigh 2000 pounds.

  15. Original...
