  1. Right now, the heavyweight division is no where near as big as it used to be and the purses are not nearly as big.  There hasn't been a major heavyweight pay per view in years, which tells you right there how bad it has gotten.  Back 10 years ago, it was almost mandatory that a heavyweight title fight HAD to be on PPV.  Cruiserweight has never really been a big division in terms of money making.  David Haye is a big star making a lot of money, but he is moving up to heavyweight in his next fight, so hopefully he can inject some life into the heavyweight division.  There is no "average" money for a title shot because it depends on how popular the fighters are and how big the purse is.  Guys like Steve Cunningham don't get as much as guys like David Haye because he is not as big of a star.  In all honesty, welterweight is currently where the money is at because that division has by far, the biggest and best names in all of boxing.

  2. It depends on where the big name fighters are.  During Ali's time, the heavyweight division made the most money not only because of Muhammad's extreme popularity and charisma but also the fact that it was a very competitive division at that time, with guys like  Joe Frazier, George Foreman, Norton, Shavers, Chuvalo and Quarry.  Today, I think it's the 130 to 135 lbs class because of Manny Pacquiao, Marquez, Morales, Barrera, David Diaz, etc.

  3. k

  4. There is no set price for any weight or fight in boxing, there is no average amount, the money depends on the fighters. Good fighters get good money, great fighters get great money, and popular boxers like Oscar DeLaHoya get mega ridiculous money.

Right now the big money is from 135 to 175 depending on whos fighting.

I dont think there is a fight at heavyweight that could be made right now where a fighter could get 20 million. I think the last heavyweights that made close to that was Lewis-Holyfield back in 2000.

  5. Um depends on the boxer, doesn't matter you can be flyweight or middleweight if people want to watch you fight you'll make big $$$ with a good promoter and awesome KO's. You might also sign deals with sporting company's to advertise their products which adds to the $$$

  6. i WOULD SAY hEAVYWEIGHT OR wELTERWEIGHT

  7. it has nothing to do with the division but rather how many fans the boxer can generate and how well the fight is promoted. very few boxers will ever make 5 mil for a fight ever. if you want to make a lot of money go into business
