SL Cricket Warm up:

Congrats to the Indian bowlers, whom outsmart the SL batsman....clever bowling work however, the SL batsman can do better than that but, the fast pace Sharma & Khan taken early wickets to help the spin bowlers: Kumble & Singh.

What went wrong for the SL batsmanf for 4th innings?

  1. There is not that much wrong with the SL batsman but the Indian bowler out played them....

The SL batsmen didnt read the swing of the ball and also played the balls which were going outside the off stump

All the thing you have told then what can I tell.......

One thing.... 306 is not a small total to chase, even in a flat track....

The pitch in 4th or 5th day will have an uneven bounce.....

You could have noticed that Ishant bounced the ball more than what is expected.... It shows his power......

  2. nothing

  3. THEY WENT TOO HARD AT THE BALLS AND THEY NEVER SHOWED THE PATIENCE NEED FOR TEST PLAYERS.OPENING STAND FOR THEM IS NOT GOOD

  4. 307 is a challenging total yet gettable.

Jayawardhane could have aimed to take as many runs as possible from the new ball bowlers since they were not reckoned as a threat.By taking the upperhand early the pressure will be less while facing the spinners.

Jayawardhane's fall confirms this.It is a fourth day pitch which needed respect.Indian bowlers too had been mostly on the spot without being erratic.

  5. The same thing that happened through out the CB series, the Asia Cup final, the World Cup final.

Sri Lanka's batting choked.Yes its true 307 runs is a hard target to chase down and yes all credit goes to the Indian bowlers ona job well Done, but the performance Sri lanka batsmen gave was no where near there best. Our batsmen are so much better than that.

I'm glad they lost the match, i hope its opened there eyes. Normally the bowling would have saved the team e.g. asia cup final. Everytime teh top order fails, it's like the middle order forget what they're supposed to be doing. it's happened time and time again. i want Sri Lanka cricket to address this. But Mahela come out and speaks to the media hinting that Sri Lanka might opt for pace in the final test. which leaves me wondering.

Take a look at this the score 95-4 in the 30th over, which was close to what South Africa were in there second innings 97-4 in the 30th. South Africa made it Sri Lanka didn't. It shows you the mental strength of the teams.

Don't get me wrong, Sri lanka's batsmen are amazing and talented, but when it comes to being put under pressure, we're not teh best to handle it. I've watched it time and time again and pulled my hair out everytime because where better than that. But its a fact, we crumble under pressure.

  6. over confidence  i think , but spin wicket gave most advantage for

    harbajan unexpectedly.

  7. 4th inings 300plus target....hmm itz not at all going to be easy for any team....if u want to chase it u need some good openin pair or else some gr8 partnerships in middle....but 12 runs for 3 wickets(ALL INFORM BATSMANS)....itz early pressure on sri lanka..and india capitalized on tat to level te series....But te credit goes to sewag(one man army)...Bhajjis come back....ishant spell....am sure senior players vil chip into te next match N we will win te test series

  8. Psychologically for any Team to score 300 plus runs in 4 th innings, and that too in the unpredictable Galle Pitch is very difficult proposition.

Yet Indian pace bowlers and Harbhajan struck vital blows early to fold up the SriLankan 4 th innings

Indian Team was more focussed and in combative mood to win the Galle Test.

  9. Nothing wrong... they loose early wickets so the other batsmen feel the pressure... and out on 135 or 136

  10. what a great introspecting Q Furioso !

nothing wrong with Sri Lankan batsmen, Ishant and Zaheer bowled out of the skin at off stump line to trap them and they fell prey to it, they needed to cover the ball for extra bounce and slight movement,  unfortunately they couldn't do that !

i won't comment on their capability since you asked a Q sincerely, i just do that when people gloat here , i would just say it was lack of application and implementation of technique on that fourth innings pitch and the pressure of runs on the board!

same thing happened to India in the first test!

  11. The Quickies gave a terrific start to India, 10/3 is such a predicament, 99 out 100 times the batting order will fold up. Other than the partnership between Samaraweera & Dilshan there was nothing; the top order flopped, and tail fell apart. I think it was 113/4, and then Dilshan was out and then everything was in a flash. First 4 wickets fell for 37 runs & last 6 wickets for 23 runs.

Yes, you are right about the fast bowling part. Chaminda Vaas is not among quickest nowadays. & even Kulasekara is on the slower part. There are rumours that Sri Lanka might drop Vaas for the third test.

Tell me what are the chances Dammika Prasad will be given a spot in the final eleven? I heard Thilan Thushara will be preferred over Prasad

    (source:- http://content-ind.cricinfo.com/slvind/c... )

And India's coach Gary Kirsten will not be available as well, as he is back in South Africa to be with his ailing mother.

  12. The bowler knew its the 4th day and last innings. So they perform well because they knew that they were expected to bowl nicely and it was their last job in the match.4th and 5th day has an uneven bounce which makes the batsmen thinck alot. As the bowlers bowl faster (more pase) batsmen haved to think very quickly. That is what Zaheer Khan and Ishant Sharma did. Although Vaas lost a lot of pase he swings the ball like h**l that is the reason why Sehwag lost consentration. Nuwan Kulasekara is also improving day by day ,but He has to devolope his pase. So Sri Lanka didnt have good pasy bowlers for Galle pitch. That is why India won in Galle.
