  1. Hitler's main reason for declaring war was because the U.S. agreed to be neutral but violated the agreement in many ways.  The reasons he gave were:

    1.  President Roosevelt ordered the Navy and Air Force to shoot on sight at any German war vessel.

    2.  Neutral ships would sail to England giving them war supplies).

    3.  The U.S. created several pieces of legislation and policies that clearly helped England such as:

    -  Enacting the Lend-Lease Act so that Britain didn't have to pay immediately for war material (they were essentially using credit).

    -  Giving them destroyers in exchange for leases to use British islands in the Atlantic for bases.

    -  American destroyers escorted convoys.  Since the U.S. was "neutral", the Germans couldn't attack.

Although Hitler listed these reasons, there was more than likely an ulterior motive although this can't be proven because there's no documentation confirming the plans.

Hitler had a vision of global domination, and after he had conquered Europe, he was then going to focus on the U.S. because by that time they would be the last powerful country who was not part of his Axis.  However Hitler saw an opportunity to seize the U.S. during WWII because he believed the U.S. would be too busy fighting the Japanese.  For that reason, Hitler declared war against the U.S. three days after the the U.S. declared war against Japan.  As soon as Germany made their declaration of war against the U.S., the U.S. declared war against Germany and Italy.

  2. the U.S. was claiming to be neutral, but yet were supplying the allies. The U.S. declared war on Germany though as well. he made a peace offer in jan 1940, but the Brits refused it, and he believed it was because of pressure from the British "clique" . He believed that the U.S. was making Germans seems like monsters, and created an anti-German feeling. personally, he thought that the U.S. constantly was able to get involved in wars or conflicts that were not necessarilly their business, and sit back and watch the blood shed, without being a part of it. He was not going to let that happen.

  3. Well Hitler came very very close to ruling the world. If he would have taken down The U.S.A all other countries would have crumbled along with us.

Hitler knew this so that is why he wanted to engage in war.
