  1. the sciences make steady progress and yield applications of matchless vitality-pholosophy makes no progress and not pratical applications and secondly philosophy is out of touch with real life, for which it substitutes abstractions. Philosophers have almost without acception, treated it as noble, simple, and perfectly ignoring the complexity of fact.
