  1. Boiled Linseed Oil.

Re-finishing a stock or piece of wood requires removal of all the original/old finish.  It is a labor of love.

  2. BLO and turpentine works well and will give you the original looking finish

If it's a labor of love why do I cuss so much when I'm doing it

  3. The Enfield stocks were typically finish with linseed oil and later on tung oil.

You could definitely sand down the stock and use a satin glass. Won't look original, but if you take your time and do a good sand job, it will look great.

  4. I believe it is British Red stain and Boiled Linseed Oil.

Note: the stain does not dictate the sheen. That is by the oil rubbed finish.

    Wax-on, wax-off...
