  1. By Robert Dudley she was always Bess and then later My Elizabeth. She named herself the Virgin Queen after the conspiracy with Dudley and Norfolk was discovered and dealt with. Glorianna is stilled often used to this day to describe her. Some historians call her simply The Great Queen. One maid, it is said, was asked by Elizabeth to leave court because she called her Beth. There was also The b*****d Queen which was given to her by the Catholics and was stilled whispered until much later after her death. Queen Mary's former husband, The King of Spain, also had a name for her but I can't remeber what it was. When he sought her ought for marriage before Mary was even dead she rejected him and he called her a name to his advisors and it stuck with him and the people of the Spanish court. Try looking it up.If you find it let me know!
