  1. they were lieing to u

rocks arent living they don't have a heart beat, they don't breathe.....those people were being retards

  2. pet rocks were parents' excuse for a pet to give their kids when they didn't trust them with a real animal

  3. These novelties came out when I was a kid, back in the 70's. They were cleverly marketed by stating they were the perfect "pet" as you didn't have to feed them, they didn't shed, and they were quiet. So people actually paid good money for a rock, about $4. That's all it was, a rock, just like what you would find in your yard. Except it had google eyes glued to it. It came in a box, like you would get if you bought a hamster http://msnbc.com/modules/take3/may/img/r... and you could also buy accessories for it, like a couch it could sit on, or a hat. The guy who came up with this made millions, if you can believe it.

  4. I totally agree with you! what has the new world become? Is the place I call home now crazt and thinking that rocks can do tricks?!? I am all for some fun and everything, but really what is up with that joke!

  5. Here, this will tell you everything about pet rocks.

It's like the history of pet rocks, lol

  6. a rock is an object not a living thing there for it cannot move maybe the person was kidding around

  7. It's just a joke, really. It's a rock. In a box.

  8. A pet rock can be any rock that you find on the street or store bought and comes in fancy packaging and caring instructions.

People who has pet rock find them very low to no maintainable, cost is low to next to nothing (if you just pick one up from the street, it's free) and for people who doesn't like the responsibility of a real pet. A pet rock need not be fed, bathed, walked, and you do not need to send it to obedience school, will not spray stinky urine, will not become pregnant and contribute to the over population problem, does not need vet care, does not shed, does not drool and will always listen to you without talking back.

And someone actually wrote a manual on how to take care of a pet rock:-

Pet rock can sometimes be very spoiled. They live in high rise condo, have premium hay to lay on, and get scrubbed with lambskin so it will have a great shine.

So, depending on the kind of person you are, your pet rock will reflect the person you are as well. If you are neat and tidy, your pet rock will always have a neat and tidy home, if you love clutter, you pet rock might sometimes go hiding and you won't find him for days until you decided to pick up that old jelly bean under the bed.

You can't really teach a pet rock tricks because they are extremely stubborn (they are hard headed after all) so trainning is always almost impossible.

    Hope I answered your question.

  9. It's just a phrase for parents because they dont trust there kids with real animals....

  10. A "pet rock" is simply a rock. Sometimes used as a gag-gift or just a silly, inexpensive toy. People are just joking around when they say "I taught my pet rock to roll over yesterday!" because they don't have a dog, cat, or other living pet to teach a trick to. Some people buy pet rocks to very plainly show their parents that they want a real pet! Or to show their friends that they don't have a pet and wish they did.

If you want to buy one, may I suggest going in your back yard and finding one. Why spend money on something you already have?

    Here's how they came packaged...
