According to historians, none of FDR's New Deal Policies helped to end the depression and most agree that it actually prolonged the depression by hurting the private sector from job creation.  That is why it is best that the Federal government to stay away from the economy and let it take it's own course.

    The best thing that FDR did was give the banks a holiday to get their books in line and to prepare for the run on the banks.
