Name several if you can please. I have heard stories that fighters like Saddler and Zivic were really rough with a lot of fouls etc.

  1. Bowe Golota..

  2. I saw Duane Thomas thumb John Mugambi in the eye, but there was some question at to how intentional it was.

The Nasseem Hamid vs Cesar Soto fight in Detroit was a disgrace with elbows, low blows, shoulder strikes and Hamid even picked Soto up and body slammed him.  That was up there with some of the dirtiest I have ever seen.

Riddick Bowe vs Andrew the "Foul Pole" Golata has been  mentioned, but warrants further mention.  Tyson wasn't the only fighter to take a bite out of his opponent, Andrew Golata actually bit Sampson Poua in the throat, it appeared Andrew was trying for the kill the Samoan.  Golata was always a space case.

Another disgrace was the Donald Curry/Tony Montgomery fight, that one was finally stopped after Montgomery humiliated himself, and most of Detroit with all those fouls.

The accidental(?) head butts of Evander Holyfield reached it's summit with that lump he put on Haseem Rockmon's forhead, that one looked like Rock grew another head, it was grusome.  I don't think it was an intentional head butt, but that didn't stop Holyfield from repeatedly hitting it after it became the size of a soft ball.  Evander was no angel, and the liniment in Bobby Czyz's eyes off Holyfields gloves dates back to the first Ali/Liston fight as old school dirty tactics.

My favorite of all time was the neck tie yank of Eliza Tillerary over the ropes by Rock Newman after Tillerary hit Riddick Bowe with a couple of low blows, that one was classic.

  3. Sandy Saddler and Willie Pep not only had lengedary brawls but it was a known fact that each would take turns biting eachother! Zivic, Greb, Johnson, Dempsey and an army of others were known for doing whatever it took to win. I think the worst I ever heard was Luis Resto in 83' pounding Billy Collins jr. with hands soaked in plaster of paris and two inches of padding removed from his gloves. Not only was it dirty but a disgrace to boxing.

Bowe vs. Golata still makes me sore to think of it, and of course ''Iron Bite'' vs. Holyfield 2.

  4. Tyson vs Holyfield.

  5. I watched Riddick Bowe nut punch Pierre Coetzer into submission because he wanted to KO the White South African.

It was only fair Golota returned the favor.

  6. The dirtiest fight I have ever heard of was Luis Resto versus Billy Collins.

The dirtiest fighter I have ever seen or heard of was Mike Tyson in his second fight with Holyfield.  The film clearly shows  Mike lunging at Holyfield's ear and missing before he got it on his second try.

  7. Andrew Golota vs. Riddick Bowe

  8. mysterious billy smith

    mike tyson

kid mc coy (feining illness etc)

  9. roberto duran vs. davey moore wba junior miidleweight championship.

  10. Yah, Bowe Golata is probably the all time worst.

Tyson-Bruno was pretty bad, Bruno started it, then Tyson started banging elbows.

Chavez was quite dirty until Pernell convinced him it was a bad idea.

  11. any hopkins fight,he uses his head really well

  12. The fourth fight between featherweights Sandy Saddler and Willy Pep was very dirty.  Both fighters were suspended as a result.

Middleweight Harry Greb was a very dirty (but extremely effective) fighter- his fight with Mickey Walker is proof of this.

As you mentioned Fritzie Zivic was very dirty (especially his fight with Henry Armstrong).

Mysterious Billy Smith had a very dirty series of fights with Joe Walcott (original, not Jersey Joe).

For more recent guys; Evander Holyfield was actually a dirty fighter- he used his head and elbows a lot.

The fights with Andrew Golota and Riddick Bowe were obviously very dirty.

Bernard Hopkins is a very cagey/dirty fighter who knows all the tricks in the bag.

Joel Casamayor also knows how to pull of all the fouls without the ref believing it was on purpose.

Roberto Duran fought dirty many times, including when he won his first world title against Ken Buchanan.  Buchanan lost because he couldn't continue after getting hit low- Duran would have won regardless, but thats just one example of Duran being dirty.

Edison Miranda uses his head A LOT, and thats one of the reasons why he lost his fight with Arthur Abraham- he lost like 5 points for repeated butting.

Mike Tyson was obviously dirty whenever a fight was not going his way (Evander Holyfield, Kevin McBride, etc.)

Jack Dempsey was a tough as nails guy that would break the rules a lot to get the victory.  Its rumored that he used plaster of paris when he won the tilte from Jess Willard.

  13. Both fights btw Golota and Bowe

  14. Amir Khan

    when he vs Martin Kristensen

Amir you peice of $%&t come near my end well shoot ya

  15. Tony Galento v Lou Nova was a pretty dirty fight.
