What were some of the reasons behind japans desire to build an empire in Asia ??? plz help ?

It is stated in Japanese Religion (Shinto) that Japan will one day take over the world (Obviously will not happen). Building an Empire in Asia was the beginning of Hirohito's quest to take over the world.

Another reason is that the Japanese needed resources such as oil.

Of course, some obvious reasons are money and to acquire land.
