  1. One thing I have that I didn't register for and purchased after having my 7 week old, was a mirror to hang on the backseat of my car. It is my favorite thing. While you are driving you can see into your rear-view mirror and look at your beautiful baby. The only downside is that I'm so enamored by this precious being that I have to remind myself to drive!

  2. a crib.

  3. A "chair" for the baby.  I thought the bassinette would be fine for the living room, but one of those vibrating baby pappasan chairs are SO much better for the baby when he/she is awake at times.  They can be part of the action too!

  4. Toys, dummies, blankets, food, baby shampoo etc

  5. Those cloth diapers and/or small cloth towels are so important... can't have enough.  It's surprising just how much fluid comes from a baby so small! I mean, drool, spit-up, pee, p**p, and then, there's yourself.  If you're breast-feeding, please buy several nursing bras and lots of pads for them. If you find one style you really like, go multiple and be comfortable!

    Best of luck!

  6. ahhh your parenting instincts have kicked in... you have everything probably more than you actually need.. congratulations!!!

  7. Baby changing unit, I thought I'd just save the money and change her on the bed!  A week and two parental bad backs later we went to Mothercare and got one.  I'm now thinking of getting another for downstairs!  A playgym,  I found her exhausting trying to keep her entertained  so we got one when she was 3 weeks old.  I didnt find out how to use my steriliser either and ended up on the net at 4am trying to figure it out! Blackout blinds.  Never underestimate the positive effect of darkness on a baby's ability to sleep undisturbed!  I went to Argos when she was about 6 or 7 days old and got Blackout blinds and dimmer switches for her room and ours.  I got baby grobags when she was about 2 weeks old.  another great purchase that stops her kicking her covers off.  I got 0.5 tog 1s and I can still tuck her in firmly with a sheet preventing her from overheating or kicking her covers off.  A mobile for her cot and her music box, both from Smyth's Toys and both by Fisher Price.  I couldn't live without either.  She loves the nature sounds programme on them.

  8. My baby had just about everything.  I needed more things for me for my healing, comfort, and for nursing.  I sent my husband out to get stuff for me.

  9. disposable nappies (I swore I wasnt going to use them..silly me lol), wipes, I had the sterilising equipment, but not the tablets to go in it lol

apart from that..I had everything..it was the little surprises (like a dummy, again I said I wasnt going to use one..again silly me lol) and the fact that she was 4 pounds smaller than expected and needed tiny baby clothes (my mum rushed to kmart lol)

Dont stress over the little things :)

  10. Diaper Champ/Diaper Genie

I don't know if you are going to be nursing or not but you will need Nursing Pads (didn't even think about that with my 1st baby)

  11. Keep laundry detergent STOCKED..you will always be washing something.  I needed more spit up cloths than I thought. And mostly I needed things for myself because when they are tiny, you are home alot.  I need things to keep my happy..like my favorite snacks, more movies or I signed up for more cable channels so I can watch tv during feedings..Or things that made me more comfortable..Like more compty lounge clothes for myself.

But besides that...I had it covered

  12. More clothes that have the fold over sleeves so she couldn't scratch herself.  Old Navy's "Little Bundles" collection has them.  We only had the one they had her in at the hospital!

    A bottle drying rack.

  13. I would have been beside myself  the first time baby felt warm. Luckily SIL is a genius/ mom and had given me a thermometer for babies(so it can't go too far up, if you know what I mean. ) and baby tylenol and Motrin. I was able to call dr with rectal temp. Fever not high enough to come in,but got ok to give meds and baby's fever came down.( Panic and stupid trip to dr averted)

Also, you will need alcohol for the umbilical and cotton swabs.Genius SIL gave me those too.

Genius Sil gave me extra laundry basket for just baby things, but a laundry bag could work too.

Motrin for mommy in case of plugged ducts.

Big envelope to keep important baby paperwork in?

Quick snacks for dad and me.

  14. more pads

    lanolin nipple cream

i had tons of diapers but not enough wipes

i wish i had a sling or something like it earlier on

    more comfortable underwear

oh yeah i needed breast pads too ( whether you're nursing or not you'll need em')

i probably would have had most of these things  if i hadn't had him a month early though

  15. S L E E P!!!

  16. You probably have everything you need, but as a first time mom, you don't realize how much of each thing you need.

You can never have enough burp rags, pacifiers (if you use them), or blankets. My husband and I actually returned some of those things because we got so many at showers and now I kick myself!

One thing that I would recommend having that you may not think of (here come the thumbs down) is a can of formula and a couple of bottles, even if you are planning on breastfeeding. I started pumping the day my daughter was born (she was in the NICU and therefore I could not breastfeed) and my milk still did not come in until she was 7 days old. I was grateful that the hospital had formula there and that I had received some as shower gifts, even though I'd thought I wouldn't need it.

    Good luck!

  17. Make sure to have small clothes. I had a bag baby (almost 9 lbs.) but everything was still too big for him. Have quite a few newborn sizes on hand. Pacifiers are a must, too. Lots of burp clothes will be needed. If you're having a boy and he is going to be circumcised, make sure you have gauze and bacitracin. Good luck!

  18. his father :p

  19. wipe warmer, brushes to clean the bottles with,

  20. wipe warmer, lots of onsies, bibs, lots more diapers

and oh yea another one of me, but that part didn't happen!
