Tough one.  The 80s was full of great fights.  Some were actual fights.  Some were more event than fight.  Some were both.  Im sure I will leave something out but here goes

Leonard-Hearns 198:  With Ali gone the Heavyweight division left a void.  Leonard was the Olympic hero and Hearns poll-axed nearly everyone put in front of him.

Leonard-Duran 1980:  Duran didnt have to promote anything.  He was just being himself.  He was everything Leonard wasnt and vice verser.  

Holmes-Cooney 1982.  The quenticential Heavyweight bout

Pryor-Arguello 1982.  WAR

Leonard-Hagler 1987:  More even than fight

THE GREATEST fight I have ever seen!

#2 Pryor - Arguello #1,

Pryor's comeback and kayo was incredible, controversey or not.



#3 Leonard - Hearns #1,

Hearns dominated early with his jab but his stamina and SRL heart overtook him.

#4 Holyfield - Qawi #1

Toe to Toe war at the Omni in Atlanta, Holyfield lost 15 pounds and ended up in the hospital after the fight with kidney failure!

#5 Holmes - Cooney,

Solid effort by the way overmatched, overhyped Cooney, and a dominating performance by a prime Holmes in what was at the time the biggest hyped fight since Ali - Frazier.
