  1. They were worried that the creation of a strong central government would become Monarchic and Autocratic over time.

    And they were right.

    They were afraid of a strong central government, more concerned with its power than the rights of the governed.  That no matter how a national government was set up, it would eventually destroy the power of the states and the rights of the individuals in order to secure more power for itself
