The Communists don't need a "cause," they only need an opening. Give a gun to a Communist, and he will make up an excuse.

If you write your paper from the point of view of the Communist Cause, instead of the Czar BEING the cause, you'll be the only one in your class with a unique paper.

The short answer is failure in the Russo-Japanese war.

Coupled with the way that emancipation was enacted - people had to get mortgages to pay for their own freedom - and most were still enserfed in 1905..

One reason. The Japo-Russian War of 1903-1904 had cost Russia a million men and over a billion in gold. Something had to be done becuase how could a superior force such as Russia which had impeded the army of Napeoleon be defeated by a island of little people. The 1905 Russian Revolution is nothing compared to 1917 with the Russian Civil War beginning with Lenin,Trotsky, and Stalin Red's and Czar Nicholas II's loyal whites. That WAS THE REAL REVOLUTION. When Czar Nicholas was killed in 1918 and the Communist took over in 1920 the world was watching. Look at Mussolini in Italy or Fransico Franco in Spain or even Hitler in Germany or Dolfuss in Austria all of thier revoltionary ideas were created the the fact the revolution still created change in 20th century Europe where many europeans thought that revolutions had died in the late 1800's.
