What were the conditions of slaves after slavery?

like how did they live, what did they do for, money and food. like just how did they live.

  1. Some stayed on there ex masters plantations as worked either for a small wage or as share croppers, both of these offered a subsistence level of living.  some became itinerants, traveling and becoming criminals, others moved north and tried to get work in the lager cities of the north,  for most it was a harrowing experience as they had no idea of to support themselves away from slavery.


  2. A lot of them went to work for their masters, only they got paid for it, but it was never enough. Instead of living for free, they had to pay rent and buy their own food. Many resorted to stealing to make up the difference.

  3. Basically, they did the same exact thing for very little pay (their daily chores were basically all they were educated to do) until they got paid enough to go out on their own. Many African Americans in the south were subject to racist treatment, due to Confederate sympathizers being sore losers, really. Many African Americans made it up North after the war, often collecting in larger cities such as New York City or Chicago, working low-end jobs with other minorities, in pursuit of prosperity.
