  4. I saw a recent documentary on Chernobyl that suggested that the illness and deaths attributed to the accident at Chernobyl were far far less then were expected.....I don't remember the exact numbers but I believe it was less than 100 deaths attributed to Chernobyl....mostly related to clean up workers who were not wearing proper protective clothing.  I believe the public illnesses attributed to radiation poisioning was a few hundred.  The documentary seemed credible though one does never know who is behind these documentaries and whether they have any alterior motives.  I took it as factual.  Sorry if this contradicts the other responder.
