What were the facts that made Doomsday: January 1, 2000 seem real?

  1. Where were you eight years ago?

    The whole Y2K nightmare was because no one was certain what a lot of computers would do.  A lot of software was only capable of recognising a six digit date.  Therefore, people panicked that ATMs, autopilots, et al would all go into synchronised meltdown at the stroke of midnight.  There was no biblical precedent - just as their was no biblical "doomsday" on January 1, 1000.

No but people assumed it did, like they did in the year 75, 100, and many times between then and the year 1000. and i think from there to 2000 was only two other times people assumed Jesus would come back. because the years number are years after the death of Jesus they think he'll be back on an even year. kinda like when people go big for the 10's birthdays like 20 30 40 ect.
