  1. They were kind of like Twilight Zone stries for kids.

  2. Actually I never read the book, I just saw the movies. I owned Stay Out Of The Basement. WOW I am only 22 and I feel old.

  3. They were basically about ordinary aspects of kids' lives becoming supernaturally scary.  Pretty much all of the settings were the homes of suburban kids or accesssible to them.  One story is about a haunted sponge under the sink, one about being sucked into a comic book... some stories involve relatives bringing home something creepy, like a haunted clock or puppet (as you can see, they're somewhat formulaic =P).

  4. they were like the creep show series but for kids. it was a tv show too. and if anyone wants to read them i've got a whole box full of them i keep meaning to put up on ebay lol

  5. Wow, I suddenly feel really old....

The Goosebumps books are actually older than that. I think I started reading them in third grade or so, which would have been 1994. There wasn't a recurring theme in the series or anything; each book was stand-alone. It was a series of horror books for kids. In one book, a kid's dad turned into a plant-man. In another one, a kid bought some green goo called "Monster Blood" that kept growing and devouring things. They really weren't all that scary, but they were good and creepy for a young kid.
