  1. Farmer.

  2. WWII, most everybody was fighting in the war. Even the youngin's were sneaking off and lyin' about their ages to join the war. Those that remained stateside were supporting the war effort in any way they could . . . .farming was a consistent thing, manufacturing tanks, ships, planes, jeeps, ammunition, guns, etc . . . Even women were in on the act . . . Rosie the Riveter .  . . After the war, things went back to normal . . . sort of anyway . . . many of the women who had joined the work force did not want to quit there jobs. This made it difficult for men to find work when they got back from the war, yet reluctantly the women in the work force realized that they needed to do what was best for the good of all. Still, a trend had been started, and the tradition of a single income family was soon to disappear. Anyhow, after the war, America was growing exponentially; the housing market, our underground utility infrastructure, auto manufacturing, air travel, and the highway system were all being developed. All that stuff required energy, so along with the road builders, ditch diggers, automobile assembly line workers, factory workers, carpenters, plumbers (yep indoor plumbing was a relatively scarce thing before the war,) electricians, and airplane assembly line workers, there were coal miners, oil well drillers, and linemen helping to supply the energy that was needed. We were also building power plants, so that put a bunch of welders, pipefitters, millwrights, and concrete workers to work. Its not much different than from today, except theres people punching on computers nowadays, and there is more figure heads and the like these days
