I'm assuming by trade explorations you mean the The Age of Exploration with Pedro Cabral, Da Gama, Columbus, Dias, Magellan, Cortes, etc. If that is so, the negative effects on American were the amount of people the native tribes such as the Aztecs and Incas lost due to European diseases and overwork from their forced work on the plantations where the Europeans grew crops to bring back to Europe and receive great profit from it like corn and potatoes, I think. I'm not sure about the potatoes. Hope I helped!
