  1. Actually for a long time after the Constitution was accepted political parties were looked down upon.  That is to say that the politicians thought that political parties were self-serving and bad so there were none.  This all changed in the "Jacksonian" era of American history circa 1828 when Andrew Jackson made a political party and won the presidency.  Also this changed the rhetoric at the time from political parties being bad to being good and helpful to the American people.  By the way, Jackson was a horrible president.


  2. I don't mean to sound finicky here, but the United States is not the only country to have a constitution; nor is the population of Y!A all American.

    I realize you MOST LIKELY meant the US, but please do try and be more specific about which country you're asking about, unless you're asking about all countries with constitutional forms of government.
