What were those things around Tom Daleys wrists?

i just wondered what they were because they looked like sweat bands and i thought that would be pretty pointless as he was diving lol

any one know what they are?

They were wrist braces to protect his wrists from injury when they struck the water.

They were to help strenghen his wrists so he doesn't get hurt when entering the water (hands first).

They are wrist protectors that his coach makes him wear because his coach used to dive and now has problems with his hands and back. They go someway to making the impact as he hits the water easier for the boy to cope with.
