Wlad put on a PBF like performance tonight. Wlad was excellent defensively and was content to cruise to a win on the scorecards. Wlad has a jack hammer jab but people want to see knock outs not unanimous decisions.

  1. It was a terrible fight, Ibtagimov was never in the fight and Klitchko never looked like he wanted to knock him out, just stayed behind the jab and very rarely threw his right. Cos Klitchko has such a poor chin he is reluctant to get stuck in so he just plays it safe!!He had the opportunity to win lots of American fans but instead settled for an easy and boring win! Surely this guy cannot unify the division he is not in the same league as the legends of past eras!!

I am looking Forward to David Haye moving up to Heavyweight cos he could take both of them out! Aftr his fight next month he will move up from Cruiserweight and hopefully he could have a Heavyweight fight in the summer!!

  2. WK did what he needed to do to win, but that's no jackhammer jab, that's a fly swatter jab begging for a right-cross counter.  I thought Ibragimov would have presented a stylistic problem for WK, but that never materialized.  Watching the replay, 2 thoughts kept bouncing into me brain.  #1: this fight looks awkward like backyard boxing where both guys are afraid of getting hurt.  #2:  Wlad would die a violent death in the ring against a guy like Dempsey, Frazier or Tyson.  All the tapping with the jab and clinching would go out the door the moment a good hook finds it mark.  Ibragimov didn't have the kind of punching power and accuracy to make it happen, but a more athletic/aggressive fighter can.  Congrats to Wlad, he did what it took to win, but he is very beatable.

  3. umm he won !!!

  4. I dont care about knock outs, I like boxing and I didn't see any boxing in that fight.

People keep saying we didnt like the fight because there was no KO, and thats not the case at all. The fight was plain ole boring.

There was no KO in Taylor/Pavlik 2 but the fight had me on the edge of my seat biting my nails. The fight last night put me to sleep by the 6th round, they looked like they were swatting flies. Its was the most boring fight (if you can call it a fight) that I have ever seen in my life. I have seen fights between two squirrels that were more entertaining.

  5. Jazbzac jr - thats a pretty ignorant statement. Holmes did look bad against Snipes. He was out on his feet and barely escaped a KO. He also got ripped for it! Your whole outlook on the black vs white thing is dumb! Many Americans would have loved to see Cooney beat Holmes, due to his color, others like myself just thought Holmes was a bit arrogant.

Most Americans boxing fans don't give a c**p what country your from (we all came from somewhere else too) We love people that can really box well or entertain well. (Duran, Arguello, Trinidad, Chavez, Sanchez, Lewis, McGuigan, The Prince, Benn, Monzon and two of my personal favs Little Red Lopez & Carlos Palomino) Had huge followings in the US.

It's just hard to deal with people comparing overated stiffs like Klitschko with the all time greats( I understand that usually is done by young people that have seen the immortals of yesterday).

Klitschko may be the best heavy right now & thats cool. But the division is weak right now. That happens & it's not anybody's fault. But see it for what it for what it is!

  6. I thought the same thing.  It was very unentertaining. Klitschko took the safe route, but it's hard to blame him.  As long as there is a general lack of an opponent, there is a great potential for a fight like this to occur.  Fighters like these have short term benefits to fighting this way, but in the long term, they might be remembered as overcautious defensive fighters who were so afraid of losing that they couldn't entertain the majority of boxing fans.  All in all, Klitschko has knocked out most of his opponents, so he gets a free pass on this one from me, but it is a real problem for boxing.  It comes down to a lack of opponents.

  7. I wanted to see a knockdown in this fight as well but the fight was alil bad because there was no action in most of the rounds except the rounds that Kiltschko was using alot of his jabs and trying to knockout this guy, but overall i give this fight a 7.

PS if you wanted to see a good fight from that card last night it was the 10 round middleweight fight with John Duddy and Walid Smichet

  8. Wlad methodically took Sultan out.  Jab after jab, he barely used his right and any type of power punches and he didn't need to.  We all know it wasn't the most eventful fight, but if you want to talk about precision, Wladimir is amazing.  He has learned from his past and that chin area is practically sealed off.  Honestly, he hit Sultan hard enough to knock him out, but you got to give him credit; he did not fall.  He definitely was knocked down when the ropes saved him, but if you noticed he got up like nothing happened.  I give Sultan much applause because he is a very good fighter, but just highly overmatched by the likes of a Wladimir Klitschko.  The American audience wants to see action, we get bored easily.  This is why in the fighting world MMA has become increasingly popular.  Sadly, boxing will continue to fade until there is a fighter who is all action, all the time.  Until them, boxing (especially the heavyweight division) will come under massive scrutiny.
