What wetsuits are ideal for surfing in Australia?

I am in the uk and have a shortie wet suit thats about 2 maybe 3 mm thick, would this be good enough to use in australia or do i need something different.

north or south, east or west.  kinda matters...

from no wetsuit needed, to a full 4/3.  take your pick.  west oz - cold, north east - warm.  south east - cold
