Question:

What wheelset for my roadbike would you recommend?

I have a Specialized Tarmac, which already has Mavic Ksyrium Equipe. I ride very aggressively with rides ranging between 20-50miles. I'd like something that is both light and cool looking. My budget is between $600-1100

I was looking at the Campagnolo Zondas and Eurus ('cause they look sick), but would like some legit recommendations.

Thanks!

  1. Try to find a set of Easton Ascent II's. They are discontinued and you can find them on sale all over the place. These wheels are light and will have a better road feel than your Mavic wheels. They are classic looking. They are lighter than your Mavic's too: about 1420 grams.

  2. I would go with the Mavic Ksyrium SL3s. Those are awesome wheels. Never heard anyone complain about those and they are durable. I don't know your weight, but superlight wheels-like sub 1500 grams- might not be that durable. Also the Ksyrium SL3s look awesome!!!

  3. DT Swiss makes a great wheel/hub combo.  There is no better weight/price ratio wheelset available.  I got my sub 1500g set for under $600.  While they aren't flashy, they are a great value and extremely durable.  The Campy's are cool looking, though!
