  1. jazz is the most important development in music history in america and the world! without it we would never have developed rhythm & blues, race music, rock & roll, or anything else that came after. It was socially relevant due to a distinct blending of black & white cultures in america.

    movies; history of jazz

artists; luis Armstrong, Lional Hampton, Duke Ellington, Count Basie, Artie Shaw, Glenn Miller, Gene Krupa, Dizzy Gillespie, Charlie Parker, John Coltrane, Gerry Mulligan, Willie the lion Smith, Ma Rainey, & so many others that my mind just went blank,...

    events;

    the beginnings of jazz

the use of the "field holler" in slave times

    the development of the blues

how Luis Armstrong got involved in music

    Creole musicians

The first all black regimental military band (WW1)

segregation of performing bands (white & black musicians could not play together in public gigs)

the artists responsible for desegregating jazz musicians

    Gangland involvement in jazz music

    the Harlem Rennaissance

  2. hendrix

    nirvana

    greatful dead

    woodstock

    spookstock

    shwagstock

  3. elvis presley, of course, however what types of artists and styles of music inspired him too. he was awesome but didn't neccessarily invent rock n roll.

also, when he had the opportunity to go gold with the song "johnny b. good" he didn't just so chuck berry could get it. he did a lot of nice things like that.
