  1. BEFORE you go to the academy; work hard on your spelling and grammar - you're going to need it when you write reports -  every one of which may end up as a document in court.  Do you want a lawyer to hold up one of your writing examples and make an A$$ of you?

  2. Hello again Cat. You will have quite a bit of role plays, scenarios and presentations. You will be studying penal law, report writing ( and your grammar is VERY important), shakedowns, patdowns, cell searches, cell extractions, cultural diversity, handcuffing techniques, hand to hand combat, ground fighting techniques, firearms qualifications ( rifle, pistol and shotgun), chemical munitions, PR-24 side baton, perimeter detail, transportation, sallyport detail and more policy, procedure and post orders than Carter has little liver pills.

Each module you take is a pass/fail course. Minimum score for each is 80%. You will live at the academy 5 days a week, going home only on the weekends (unless you are local to the academy and choose to drive home each day). Yes, you will have "homework" to do on your courses. The academy ( at least in Ohio) is 5 weeks long. Then you will work in your facility for two weeks and go back to the academy for your last 2 weeks of classes. ( 7 weeks total time).

At the end of that, you will be on probation for 1 full year.

It isnt massively difficult, but you do have to pay attention in class.

Best of luck and welcome into our little club
