What will DMSO do?

Question

My horse has heat in her front right ankle...I was told to put DMSO on it. I think it is supposed to help reduce the fever in the joint...am i correct? i know it Crystalizes at like 65 degrees. But i would like some more INFO....

dmso is good   but there is something called mare lotion that is alot better

DMSO is great for swelling and such.  You have to be careful apply it because it is absorbed by the skin so be sure to wear gloves if you use it.  I prefer Absorbine Gel for joints with heat or swelling.  You can apply it more frequently and I think it does very well.  I would also suggest cool water hydration for that joint as well, approx 20 minutes every 4 - 6 hours. Then apply the Absorbine.
