What will http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/David-de-Gea-c10463 bring to Manchester United? – English Premier League (Part 1)
Manchester United recently concluded a deal for David De Gea as the Atletico Madrid man put men to paper at Old Trafford on a five year contract with the English Premier League champions. This is Manchester United’s third signing
of the summer transfer window as Sir http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Ashley-Young-c6813 earlier on in the transfer window.
However the question now needs to be asked how http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/David-c10409 De Gea will fit in at Manchester United? Will he be able to keep his nerve at Old Trafford in front of 75, 000 fans week in week out and most importantly will he be able to
fill in the rather big shoes left vacant by Edwin Van der Sar. Taking a look at De Gea’s transfer saga preceding his move to Manchester United it is clear that the Red Devils’ were interested in signing the Spanish U-21 goalkeeper since January 2010 when the
player’s own agent confirmed United’s interest in the young shot stopper.
In February of 2010, De Gea slashed hopes of a move to the English Premier League by signing a new contract with Atletico Madrid but in March of 2010, De Gea confirmed that he was about to move to the English Premier League to
Wigan Athletic. In November of 2010, Atletico’s president made it clear that the Madrid club were not in contact with Manchester United over their star goalkeeper.
On 2nd of February 2011, De Gea stated that he had been offered a new contract by Atletico Madrid but he hadn’t signed it as he was thinking about his future at the club. Over the remainder of the season, speculation
continued and it was confirmed on June 27th of 2011 that the Spanish international was having a medical at Old Trafford and eventually on 29th of June, it has been confirmed that De Gea is now a Manchester United player.
Ferguson will hope that his newest investment doesn’t turn out to be a flop like Fabian Barthez as he is desperately needed to shine in order to fill Edwin Van der Sar’s shoes. De Gea is seen as a young prospect at the moment and
he will surely be a first choice starter at Manchester United. It is the Spaniard’s young age that excites most people that see him play because he has composure and reflexes that only experienced goalkeepers’ exhibit latter on in their careers.
For De Gea, at just 20 years of age moving to one of the biggest clubs in the world is obviously a huge boost in terms of development but with such a big move come a certain amount of expectations. However the Spaniard’s supporters
say that De Gea’s best trait is his ability to retain his nerves of steel. The young Spanish goalkeeper was at the centre of Atletico’s league campaign last year but his most impressive displays came for Spain in the U-21 European Championships in http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Denmark-c2884
this summer. Last summer, De Gea was included in http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Spain-c3011’s preliminary squad for the 2010 FIFA World Cup but then missed in the final cut as Spain went onto win their first World Cup since the tournaments inception.
