After voting for GW in the 2000 election I could not with a clear conscience vote for him in 2004. I would like to think he perhaps got in over his head with the 9/11 surprise attack and all and responded the best he could.

However, after rubber stamping every bill for 6 years (except the embryonic thing) I have a hard time coming up with many positives regarding this presidency. His father I truly admire, his wife is very articlate and bright,he does have a backwoods type of humor that is sometimes refreshing, however can anyone honestly say we are all better off now than we were 8 years ago??

  1. his legacy ... unnecessary war , torture , restricting the rights of the American people , highest gas prices in history , recession , thousands of jobs lost , America going backward instead of forward and of course war crimes and the deaths of thousands of Iraqi's and the unnecessary deaths of thousands of American military men and women and the breaking of treaties and the loss of respect to America by many of our most loyal allies. .

Yup, George W. Bush has left quite a trail of destruction behind himself .

That will be his legacy .

The most dangerous and worst president in my lifetime. I never thought I would see such a disgrace to the presidency  . I can only pray that after 57 years on this planet I'll never have to see America go through anything like a Bush Presidency again.

  2. his lagacy will be that he was the last president of the united states ever

  3. Mission Unaccomplished.

  4. He was incompetent, a liar, a traitor to his people, a fool, illiterate, and much, much worse that anyone but God himself might ever know.

  5. Honestly, I'm not sure. But i can say that i would not want to think what would have happened if Al Gore had been president...................

    scary!

  6. No, of course not.  Look around you.  People are suffering because of his sorry decisions and policies.  This is happening in epic proportions. We're at 7% unemployment.  And it will likely get worse.  This country is in for it deep.  George W. Bush's legacy will be capitalistic greed with no concern for the people of the country he ruined.  Can you say NO WMD's?  Not in this administration.

  7. Look in the real world.

    Ask little children.

    Year in and year out.

How they sang "Santa claus is coming to town"

    Luke 8.10, 17

    What do you think?

  8. I think when 9/11 happened, he saw his chance and took it. He knew exactly why he wanted to send troops to Iraq and it had nothing to do with 9/11, but he used that as his excuse and lots of people fell for it. Yes, myself included. This does not in any way mean that I don't have the deepest respect for our troops. Bush has the lowest rating of any president in history, I believe, and that is not a good thing. I can't think of anything very positive about his presidency except as you pointed out, he does have some sense of humor. You gotta have a sense of humor, but at the same time, he is such a cocky you-know-what. I can't answer for anyone besides my family, but we are so not better off than we were 8 years ago. With the prices of food going up, who can afford eat? If we could afford the food, how can we pay for the gas to get to the store?! And health insurance, holy cow, it is ridiculous.I have been turned down 13 times straight in a row. We barely make it from month to month. Our pharmacy bills take almost half of our monthly income, our insurance takes almost all of the other half.  I stay stressed out constantly because I worry about how we are going to pay our bills, I mean the necessary ones, not any fluff. As far as I am concerned, he has been a terrible excuse of a president. We as a family are hurting. The nation is hurting. I don't think that he has dealt with immigration very well at all: too little, way too late; the oil crisis: that's almost a joke; yes , he did deal with Iraq, but not in an honest manner; Iran: well, look at Iran now and just how great is that looking?; our countries economics are horrific; and just how well did he deal with Katrina? Just ask her victims.

  9. What will Bush's legacy be?  The worst President in the history of the United States?  Let's look at his accomplishments.  He won his first election by a landslide. He quickly captured and tried the perpetrators of 9/11.  Albeit slowly, he continued pay off the National Debt helping Congress only spend money on the essentials.  He never spent frivolously on unnecessary programs.   And he has been a leader who's respected and admired by every nation on Earth.

Whoops. Sorry.  This is what I would have liked him to be.  He's an utter disappointment.  What will he be remembered for?  How he protected us from the terrorists?  That can be his legacy if there isn't another terrorist attack before he leaves office.

Regarding what some of the others said, who cares if he's funny.  I don't want a comedian for President.  I want someone who's a good orator and an overachiever.  Someone who's primary concern is the betterment of this nation.  And when you say he's trying his hardest.  He's not trying at all.  He's been an underachiever his entire life.  He only does enough to get by.  The members of his cabinet,

his advisors, former Presidents, and the President's staff.  These include:

DEPUTY CHIEF OF STAFF: John Podesta

DEPUTY CHIEF OF STAFF: Maria Echaveste

COUNSELOR TO THE PRESIDENT: Douglas Sosnik

COUNSEL TO THE PRESIDENT: Charles Ruff

SENIOR ADVISER FOR POLICY DEVELOPMENT: Ira Magaziner

ASSISTANT TO THE PRESIDENT FOR DOMESTIC POLICY: Bruce Reed

    NATIONAL SECURITY ADVISER: Samuel Berger

ASSISTANT TO THE PRESIDENT FOR ECONOMIC POLICY, DIRECTOR OF NATIONAL ECONOMIC COUNCIL: Gene Sperling

    PRESS SECRETARY: Joseph Lockhart

ASSISTANT TO THE PRESIDENT, COORDINATOR OF STRATEGIC PLANNING: Sidney Blumenthal

ASSISTANT TO THE PRESIDENT, DIRECTOR OF COMMUNICATIONS:Ann Lewis

ASSISTANT TO THE PRESIDENT, LEGISLATIVE AFFAIRS: Larry Stein

ASSISTANT TO THE PRESIDENT, MANAGEMENT AND ADMINISTRATION: Virginia Apuzzo

ASSISTANT TO THE PRESIDENT, DIRECTOR OF POLITICAL AFFAIRS: Craig T. Smith

ASSISTANT TO THE PRESIDENT, DIRECTOR OF PRESIDENTIAL PERSONNEL: Bob Nash

ASSISTANT TO THE PRESIDENT, DIRECTOR OF PUBLIC LIAISON: Minyon Moore

ASSISTANT TO THE PRESIDENT, STAFF SECRETARY: Todd Stern

Bush is not running the country alone.  He has a lot of help.  He just doesn't want to do anything.  He likes being the President.  But he doesn't like the work that goes with it.

  10. Oh Im sure he will have a good speech writer fix something up. How does Mission Accomplished sound>>>Right>> snickers@@

  11. Legacy could mean many things..

do you see legacy as something that is a view held by the majority of respondents after an event?

do you believe legacy or legacies takes into account the views of minority groups?

do you believe that people with different experiences of george bush may possibly have different understandings of his legacy?

do you think his legacy could be understood differently in distant future discourse?

do you think legacy is something which is living and changing, mutating through time and through different people's constructions of it?

Now perhaps you realise that there may not be some clear cut, succinct answer

  12. I'm afraid his legacy will be that he was and is, an idiot.

  13. worst president ever.
