  1. A raquet and a ball might be a good starting point.....

  2. Something Hard to explain compressed:

    1. Racket- (most important...) if you are serious about this tennis thing you are about to enter... buy a nice racket but not in the "advanced" player range... if you are not so serious, then just buy a cheap racket... but not like the ones from Wal-mart, i suggest maybe a 70 dollar or less racket... there must be one fit for you...

    2. Shoes- personally, you don't have to have the nice 100 something dollar pro tennis shoes if you are just starting to play ... just use a pair of running shoes... exception*: don't use dress shoes, or something that is uncomfortable to you.... your in college... be smart =]

    3. Clothing- wear anything that you will feel in when you sweat...seriously

    4. Misc.- if you want to get good... take some lessons from a pro or instructor at a local court near you. thank you.....

    hope this helps.... =]

  3. get a racket, for the right size grab the top in your hand and it should fit just below your armpit and a little snug. check the strings with your hand when you put pressure on it they shouldn't bend much at all. head is a good cheap brand for rackets. for tennis balls get like wilson. for shooes make sure you got tennis shoes and they aren't cushionon the bottom otherwise they're weight lifting shoes. also make sure they are not basketball shoes. tie your shoes tight so that way you are able to run faster and your shoes wont be coming off and you wont be tripping on them. shorts are good but they can't be too long or too tight. for shirts a t-sirt or an athletic colared shirt is good. if it's super sunny where you live get a visor and always put on some sunscreen, if you don't and get sunburn it's no fun and then get sunburn on top of that sunburn will make you sick and you'll get ill with a disease. and that's all i can think of now.

  4. Just some tennis apparel, nice shoes, tennis balls, a racquet that you like, a hat, sunscreen, etc.

  5. have look at this site it should help it got a forum as well

  6. First of all, a racquet, and you will need a very small grip size, 4'0 or 4'1/8. This is not that is easy to find in a store, they usually don't have small sizes in stock. The only thing they usually have in small grip sizes is youth racquets 26", but they are much shorter and lighter than adult racquets. You will have problems hitting deep background strokes with a youth racquet. So you'd better check on-line stores if you have time. Go to the real store, try racquets in different grip sizes, including youth in 4"0, and then order on-line whatever you like in your size. I'm not a fan of oversized powerful racquets, so I would say, go for 10.5-11 oz, evenly balanced, midsize. Manufacturer imho doesn't make much difference for a beginner.

Any good athletic shoes in which you won't trip on court. A cap if you play in hot weather, or at least a visor, but a cap is better. Sunglasses that will not fall off your nose even when you're sweating. A towel. A bottle of water. Balls will probably be provided by the school. Wear whatever you like, but remember that overdressed ladies who can't hit a ball look pathetic, so leave fancy dresses till after the first semester :)

  7. white clothes(dependes on place), racket, some balls, sun screen, hat, basic knowledge on sport.

  8. Taking a college class is a great way to start playing this sport.  I played for 2 years before taking a class at a local community college.  If you were my little sis, I would just buy you a Wilson Ncode Ntour (around 80 dollars).  Your hands are probably pretty small too.  You'll probably need a 4 1/8 grip.  I would look for a local tennis shop like Golfsmith and see if they have junior tennis shoes.  For a beginner, it doesn't really matter what shoes you wear, as long as they are non-marking athletic shoes (some shoes leave a mark on the courts when you drag the shoes on them).  Good luck and remember to have fun!
