What will I need for my first day of high school (freshman) ?

What I`m mainly concerned about is if I should bring a backpack or not. :]

My first day is tomorrow too. Of course you need your backpack. Some teachers give you the text books pretty early And you do want soemthing to hold all your papers that the teachers will pass out. Like, the rules and introduction to the course. If you don't want to bring your backpack, bring a bag or something.

Backpacks are the way to go.  If you school allows bring your backpack with you all day but make sure you get a locker.  At my school I always see freshmen walking around with too much stuff in their backpacks.  We call it a "freshman backpack" even if it is an upperclassman who has the too much stuff in it.  Do not make this mistake.

Other than that bring a few notebooks and folders and you should be good to go.

My other tip is if you already have your schedule and a map of your school, look at how you will get from class to class so you don't get lost.

depends on your school.... no one ever takes a backpack on the first day at my school... so i would say you wouldn't need one!

yeah my first day is tomorrow. and i'm a junior. the first day of school you don't do anything. they will just tell you what supplies you need and you gonna get to know the teachers and everybody else . just take your notebook and something to write and take your backpack. well cause at my school they give us the list of supplies the first day.

Yes I would bring a backpack. As people have said before, the teachers may or may not issue out books. Though usually at my school they don't issue it out until at least the second or third day, but that could just be my school or my teachers.

Also at my school on the first day we were issued lockers and by third or fourth period we had to have put the backpacks in our lockers because it's a school rule that we can't carry backpacks around the school (reason is we kept getting numerous bomb and gun threats) but I don't know if that rule would apply to your school.

Make sure you have a folder with you and some pen or pencil. I wouldn't bring anything else. As you might know on the first day the teachers are going to go over all the guidelines for the school and their classroom and they'll be giving you papers for you and your parent/guardian to sign to make sure you understand and know the rules.

You probably won't desperately need it - I had mine, but didn't particularly have need for it.

You'll get papers up the wazoo - syllabuses, rules, guidelines, possibly some project information, and you may get homework. It shouldn't be too much, though.

Definitely bring it the second day, though. You'll more than likely need it.

yes you should bring your backpack, because you might get books on your first day. but dont bring all of your school supplies cuz you wont need em all. i'll be a freshman too! but i start on the 25th
