I am an Australia citizen about to marry a U.S Marine, however, I wish to keep my Australian citizenship and become either a temp or permanent resident, is this possible?

What papers will I need to bring to the U.S in order to marry my Fiancee?

  1. Your fiance needs to file for a financee visa for you.  You will need to be processed at the US embassy in Australia.  After you get the visa, you have 90 days to marry.  You can then file for an adjustment of status in the US as a legal permanent resident.  You never need to become a citizen if you don't wish to.

If you come into the country on a tourist visa to marry, you will have to return to Australia and be processed there after the marriage.  It's easier to do things the first way.

AMNESTY means never having immigration enforcement!

Those 'undocumented' are actually 'highly documented' with fraudulent documents our government readily accepts.

If fences don't work then take down those around the White House.

  2. For marriage it may vary slightly from state to state but usually you just need to bring a birth certificate.

Marriage to a US citizen does not automatically confer US citizenship under current US law.

What marriage (or engagement) to a US citizen does generally do is to allow the alien spouse or fiancé(e) an opportunity to apply for immigration to the US as a non-citizen permanent resident.
