What will John O’Shea, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Wes-Brown-c36791 add to Sunderland’s squad? – English Premier League (Part 1)
With the John O’Shea, Darron Gibson and Wes Brown’s move to Sunderland imminent from Manchester United according to the latest reports. It will be interesting to see how these three players will make an impact at Sunderland. All
of the three players are products of Manchester United’s youth system. In O’Shea and Brown, Bruce will be getting his hands on seasoned UEFA Champions League veterans.
Whilst in Gibson, Sunderland will benefit from a midfielder who is quite capable of performing for them in the English Premier League as he has shown through some of his performances for Manchester United. Therefore let’s take
look at these three players one by and one and in doing so, assess their impact on Sunderland’s squad as well as their formation which will be used by Steve Bruce in the up-coming 2011-2012 English Premier League season...
Darron Gibson
Gibson’s exit from Manchester United doesn’t come as a surprise at all. The Irishman was never really a crowd favourite at Old Trafford despite the fact that he emerged from the Red Devils’ youth academy. A midfielder who has a
venomous shot, Gibson is someone who is still maturing as a footballer. Last season’s UEFA Champions League semi-final was a milestone for the creative playmaker but now he has to move to a different footballing venue altogether. Sunderland’s new signing can
play on the right wing or through the middle.
One thing that might delight the Black Cats is the fact that Sir http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Alex-c4752 Ferguson didn’t shy away from playing Gibson in the big matches and the midfielder himself is a confident footballer. Ferguson used his youth academy product
in the 2009-2010 UEFA Champions League quarterfinal against Bayern Munich, where he scored for them at Old Trafford in the first half of their second leg encounter against the German giants. Moreover, Gibson was a permanent fixture in Manchester United’s squad
when it came to F.A Cup and Carling Cup matches.
The midfielder was criticized by the Old Trafford faithful on several occasions for his inability to hold onto the ball and assert himself on the match as a whole. However Gibson’s best performance for Manchester United came in
the second leg of their UEFA Champions League semi-final against Schalke 04 last season when he scored one goal and assisted one as well. Gibson’s exit is probably going to pave way for a new signing at Old Trafford but at the Stadium of light, it will provide
Steve Bruce with several options.
The former Manchester United centre back who is now in charge at Sunderland can use Gibson in a three man midfield as well as a two man central midfield. Sunderland usually play a 4-4-2 which means that Darron Gibson will probably
take up a central midfield berth alongside Lee Cattermole. Sunderland’s formation could be;

In this setup, Gibson can complement Cattermole’s tough tackling approach with his astute playmaking abilities. The Irishman perhaps wasn’t good enough for Manchester United’s standards but he is more than capable of becoming the
star of the show at Sunderland for Steve Bruce.
