What will NOT happen at the upcoming Olympics at Wimbledon? - Tennis News
Everyone is talking about what are the probabilities of a particular event to happen at the forth coming Olympics. There is so much hype about the possibilities but no one is actually thinking that what will never happen at the
London Games 2012. Some of the famous people were asked this question and their replies were very sarcastic yet credible.
Steve Brenner is the North East football reporter for the Sun but he is now ready to bid some non-happenings of the Olympics. This is what he said about the things that are most likely to malfunction at the Wimbledon, “The Olympic
Flame won’t set Henman Hill ablaze and be doused by 250 litres of Pimm’s.”
Strange but a rare possibility as well because that will raise the hype for the London Games and more importantly increase the viewership all across the globe. The concept of negative marketing is very fashionable these days and
companies are using to its optimum level just to mass market their product.
Another famous Senior Writer of Sports Illustrated Magazine, Jon Wertheim, was asked the same question and he answered it in a more serious fashion stating “The U.S. will not sweep the gold medals. The men’s singles event will
almost assuredly go elsewhere. But – remarkable for a country whose tennis status is constantly criticised – the Yanks and Yankettes could win four of five. Serena Williams is the frontrunner in singles. Though unseeded, she and her sister ought to win the
doubles. Bob and Mike Bryan are top seeds in the men’s event. And the team of Mike Bryan and Serena Williams could win the mixed event.”
According to Simon Cabers, who is a freelance sport journalist at The Tennis, the Kazakh queen, Yaroslava Shvedova, will not complete the second golden set of the history. According to Paul Newman, the journalist at The Independent,
there will no talk about the price of strawberries at Wimbledon during Olympics.
There might be some non-serious responses to this question but considering the hype, one can say that the probability of Roger Federer bagging the gold medal is lower than the Serb former world number one, Novak Djokovic. Probably,
an underdog in the women’s category will rise to the occasion and grab a gold medal; maybe it is the Kazakh starlet Shvedova.
There is no grace in betting on well known names. The awesomeness lies in betting big on underdogs; go for Shvedova; a gold medal is due on her.
