What will a police dog do if confronted by another dog?

Let's say a dog is trying to protect its owner from a police dog and attacks it, what will the police dog do? Let's say the police isn't close enough to do anything about it. Will the police dog fight back?

They wont attack another dog unless their owner tells them to they are taught command to only attack when  there owner tells them

Probably kill it. Most police dogs are alpha males and do not get along with other animals at all. We have some dogs that will not tolerate anyone or anything but their handler.
