a century ago allot of what we do today would constitute a hanging or at least a lengthy jail sentence like homosexuality or adultery (in some places) but what i want to know is what things today that are socially unacceptable might be acceptable in 50 to 100 years?

  1. I believe people will look back and not be able to believe that g*y marriage was not legal in Australia. I also believe that in 50 years people will not be able to believe the barbarism of childbirth today (think test tubes).

  2. The way things look right now I'm going to guess: public executions, gladitorial events, the stoning of people who do not conform, rich people shooting at poor people from their armored cars for fun and games.

That's pretty much the future I see us manufacturing at this moment.

  3. Interesting question! I can see this going two ways. Either a more liberal direction: g*y marriage, transgendered people, tattoos, piercings, personal freedom of expression, alternative sources of energy, regulated recreational drugs, regulated prostitution, etc. You can look at some of the more forward-thinking Scandinavian countries to get an idea. Or it could go in the opposite direction: it seems religion is on the rise throughout the world, and that doesn't bode well for freedom. So in that case you could pretty much just go back in time 50 to 100 years and the things that were unacceptable back then will be unacceptable in the future, such as homosexuality and adultery, as you mentioned.
