In the lead up to sydney everyone was complaining about ticket allocation a sign of mismanagement and thought that the city's traffic would ruin the games. These games turned out magnificently Samarache called them the greatest ever

Athens every one assumed that the venues would not be ready in time , while there have been post olympic problems their was no issue during the games which themselves were a success

Beijing was going to to be so covered in smog that athletes were going to breath and the press were not going to be able to operate due to restrictions from the CCP. Again this did not occur, Samarach (though no longer in an official role) described the games as the most successful games ever

My question is what is the media going to suggest will ruin the London games, will it eventuate this time?

  1. The British should know that whatever happen the show must go on as in the West End.  All the Olympics have one problem or the other in happening but always being solved in time.  Just do what you know and what you need to overcome and let it be, whatever will be, will be.

  2. mmm

Well the new Wembely stadium was 2-3 years overdue so getting all the venues finished on time may be a problem.

Transport - the underground can barely cope as it is and driving in the capital is a joke.

Budget - well it's already trebled from the original cost we were all told.

  3. British atrocities in Afghanistan, Iraq, Palestine.

    Falkland Island issue

    Independence of Northern Ireland

Sanctions on Sudan, Myanmar, North Korea

    Anti-chinese and British racism

  4. The weather is going to be the big "controversy" IMO.  It rains A LOT in London.  The Olympics tries to cram so many events into such a short time frame that some sports are going to be forced to compete in weather they wouldn't normally dare compete in.

Unless London makes all their stadiums and venues indoor or retractable roof, there are going to be a lot of postponed events (or a lot of Olympians slipping and falling in the rain).  Have you ever tried to watch Wimbeldon tennins?  They rarely if ever can get through 2 weeks of tennis without having multiple rainouts and re-schedules.

  5. Just google "nightmare+heathrow terminal 5" and take a look at the disaster which happened at the London airport when it opened this year. And now they're going to organize the Olympics..... good luck.
