While I do think there were some siginificant differences between the comic book and the TV show, I feel this was necessary as the ninjas helping out Shredder were mislead teens and the idea of the Ninja Turtles beating up misguided youths might come off as cold and indifferent so the choice to use robots instead was a good one in the end.
