If you like Indian food, curry is the best in London and according to some people better than in India.  If you like Lebanese (Middle Eastern) food, UK (not just in London) has some of the best restaurants, even better than Lebanon. The best chefs left Lebanon for obvious reasons.  Italian food is good too in the UK everywhere.  If you have eaten Chinese and Japanese food in NY or SF or LA, whatever you do, don't eat Chinese food in the UK.  I get better Chinese food at Panda Express or some Chinese fast food.  The same with Japanese food.  Although I found the Royal Garden Hotel has a Asian buffet every Tuesday night is quite decent for about 25 pounds.  I don't know if they do that anymore since I have not stayed at the Royal Garden Hotel in the last three years.
