  1. It just depends on many factors, such as;  What was the reason for your UA?  What type of relationship do you have with your Command?  Did you leave with the intent on coming back? (meaning did you take military uniforms, for some reason that shows intent on returning)  Did you miss movement? (meaning was your unit deploying?)  Basically, it all results to why and how well your command likes you.  Ive seen punishments be as light as Summarized article 15 or jail.  What you want is summarized art 15, and ask for it not to be put in permanent record or be viewed in record and take either the reduction in rank or pay, your career can be salvaged that way.....Good Luck

  2. Depends on many different things..And just because its not the 30th day does not mean you will be treated like a "basic: UA Marine..

  3. Worse case scenario: busted a rank, fined at least $100 for 2 months, restriction to base for 45 days if you're an ok Marine otherwise.

For folks who try to tell you that it's DESERTION after 30 days, that's not true.  The difference between DESERTION and UA depends on the INTENT.  Some one could be reported as a deserter after 24 hours while someone who's been gone 20 years could just be UA.
