What will become of Arsenal’s http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Kieran-Gibbs-c20945 – Part 2
With many big clubs such as Juventus, Inter Milan and Real Madrid, reported to be after the veteran left back Gael Clichy, Wenger has entered into contract negotiations with the Frenchman and his agent. With uncertainty surrounding his future at Arsenal,
Gibbs can find a superb opportunity to restart his developmental process at the Emirates.
A host of fans and critics have expressed their concerns over the usage of Gibbs, whom they claim can become a valuable asset in midfield. But with Arsenal having an extremely talented range of midfield players at their disposal, it can be understood why
Arsene Wenger is reluctant on a transition process.
In case Clichy makes his Emirates departure a certainty, there is a list of quality left-backs that are under the radar of Wenger as possible replacements. On top of the list is http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Leighton-Baines-c21987, who is believed by many to be a class apart. Should the Frenchman
depart and Baines arrive, Gibbs could see his chances further reduced.
Apart from new signings, two quality left-backs are heading back to the Emirates after stunning loan spells. Armand Traore, who has played a total of 30 games for Arsenal and also has 28 games for Portsmouth under his belt (where he was loaned out in the
2008/2009 season) will be returning from Italy after a strong loan spell at Juventus. Shrugging of his injuries, he is back to his best and will prove to be quite a player for the London side. Traore is an ideal second choice left back and will be a great
asset for Arsenal in the cup competitions.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Pedro-Botelho-c29593 is another specialist left-back who will be returning to the Emirates this season. Since his signing 3 years ago, he has not even stepped once on the beautiful North London streets. Issues with a visa and a work permit have forced the 21-year-old
Brazilian to play 3 consecutive loan terms. This season, he has had a stunning campaign with Spanish Segunda side, Cartagena, where he has played a total of 35 matches. The player has shown great skill going forward and is very formidable in defense.
The Brazilian is set to receive a work permit this year and the rumors are buzzing that he will head directly into the starting line-up for the Gunners.
After both players return from loan spells, it would a great time to send Gibbs out on loan for the 2011/2012 season so that he can get regular playing time. The loan spell will allow Gibbs to develop on the pitch and attain a level of maturity, so that
he can be in contention for the http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Arsenal-c38429 first choice left-back in the coming years.
But Wenger might want to keep the young Englishman to protect him from further injuries. But would it be wise to have such a talented player on the bench, waiting to replace an injured first-team player?
The decision rests with Arsene Wenger, unfortunately the Frenchman doesn’t find himself in the best of positions to decide on Gibbs’ future.
