What will brighten a dark room better - a light shortbread color or white?

My 3 year old daughter's bedroom is very dark since there is a tree outside her room shading it. I want to make it as bright and cheery as possible. Her bed set is very bright colors so I will have color.

go with white or a bright pastel anything else will be overpowering in a small room. or make it darker. white will always make a room brighter, but if you want something more interesting do a pastel. for a really good match, bring a piece of the fabric you used in the room to a store like lowes or home depot and match a color you like from the blanket to a color swatch there and then go up the swatch to a lighter version and it will be the same color in a lighter shade.

White is very boring; go with the shortbread.

i would paint it a pale pink this is what they did in my nieces room and her room was so dark and dreery..it was a light tan before they painted it but the pink livened it up soo soo much!

Avoid the white for the walls.  It tends to feel sterile.  The shortbread color is warm and light and neutral enough to work with almost any other colors.
