What will community service in middle school do for you?

i do community service without expecting anything, but will it do anything for you?

thats the point of community service - to do a service to your community and expecting being paid.  i believe community service helps you grow as a better person.  i had to do community service in middle school and still have to do it in high school(im 10th grade).  community service can do so much for a person.  for me it has helped me see that i need to be thankful for everything i have and not take things for granted.   people can say that, but its different when you are really experiencing what they are feeling or actually talk to people or directly help those people.  i have participated in 30 hour famines where teenagers come together and fast for thirty hours to raise money for starving children.  its way better than just giving money to a charity.  i always feel like i have done a good thing after doing community service.  and most times you can go with a group of friends, making it even better.  

community service has also helped me to learn how to work with a team.  it has also shown me that if people come together for a common purpose you can accomplish a lot.

i think its very important that people interact with their communities and help those in need.

It helps you to get out of your own little world and to make a difference in the lives of those less fortunate. We live in a very materialistic society and it's important to realize that many people on this Earth are suffering. You may not expect anything in return but you are receiving gifts that you may not be able to see or appreciate right now.

A good project for middle schoolers is The Pencil Project.

Well if there are any clubs at your school such as at our school, we have Junior Beta, (available for only 7th and 8th grade if you have good grades) You complete service hours which could be any type of community service! If your school doesn't have this, request for it! This can also go on personal record and counts towards college!  :)
