What will get a plastic tub/shower clean?

It's not even fiber glass or acrylic. It's just plastic. The problem is soap scum (I think). I've tried everything. I'm open to suggestions. Not even Comet or bleach will clean it, although with lots of elbow grease and Comet, it doesn't look quite so disgusting.

  1. Try cleaning it with some cheap shampoo. Put the sauve or white rain shampoo on a wet sponge and lather it all over the shower-let sit for 20 minutes or overnight. Scrub with same sponge rinse with hot water and dry. There is a product that I use on my fiberglass and tile-Gel Gloss..one step cleaner and polish-I got it at home depot by the tiling section. It's like waxing a car. Works great to bring back that shine and it seals also.

  2. I would just use vinegar and water. If you let some things get dirty, they just aren't cleanable anymore.

  3. vinegar mixed with baking soda, or tablesalt and CLR, or Clorox and toothpaste...and definitely a lot o' elbow grease.

fiy- mr clean magic eraser will scratch anything glossy, like plastic....unless the tub is old and u don't care....

  4. Try using Soft Scrub, that stuff works miracles.  It cleans almost anything.

  5. Mr. Clean Magic Eraser and elbow grease.

  6. Okay this might sound weird, but BAM! toilet bowl cleaner works on plastic showers! It gets the shower 100% clean. It's very easy and low fumes unlike mean green, bleach, or other toilet bowl cleaners.

Here's what I do: (btw, you must be prepared to either scrub a little OR buy a few bottles of the BAM) I sqirt the new bottle all around the shower, even on the door, making sure every inch of the walls got covered. Be very careful that you don't just sqirt around the top because as the liquid falls to the bottom, it will gather and form lines. the key is, wherever the BAM touches, it will clean. You do not have to scrub at all, however depending on the size of your shower, you may have to buy 2 or 3 bottles to ensure an even coat throughout. I let mine sit about an hour I guess (the other day when I cleaned, I actually forgot to rinse it, and it still worked perfect) and then just rinse away. perfect results... everytime.

  7. Denatured alcohol will dissolve soap scum.

  8. You don't want to use anything that has grit in it.  You don't want to ruin the finish on the tub/shower while cleaning it, then it will be even harder to make it look good.
