In a pre-preliminary routine what would make the judges go like WOW and have you win a gold medal. Remember the jump restriction is no axel or above. every answer counts :)

  1. If you can do a spread eagle, ina bauer or if you have a great spin use that. With your coach choose music that you enjoy and that you can skate well to. Plan out the program well so that it is interesting, but not so that you get exausted at the end. Even if you make a mistake, ignore it and play to the audince anyway. Look as if you are having a blast even when you are terrified. Have fun!

  2. basically doing the hardest moves that you can do

    centering your spins

    landing your jumps

    smooth footwork

    height on your jumps

    smiling

  3. Very skilled, fast, and hard footwork definitely wows them. Also, you should try a spiral sequence, that impresses them too. I mean like doing a spiral on an outside edge and changing to an inside. Getting speed and height on the jumps and perfectly rotating them helps a fair amount. Not traveling on spins and keeping clean transitions in combination spins wows them.

    Good luck!

  4. My sister got last place because she didnt skate fast enough.  Also try new footwork.

  5. Sticking your jumps.

    Getting height

    Centred Spin

    Smile!!! =)

Really looking like you enjoy your routine and having fun!

  6. im in the pre pre level too and it wasn't easy to get there(am i right) but the judges look for these things the most:

originality- try some new music not that cookie cutter mozart music. puts the judges to sleep. try the song handel's sarabande by maksim

gracefulness and speed- you have to be able to skate fast, control your jump, and carry yourself in a graceful way(don't throw your arms out all uncontrollably)

high sprals- spirals in flexible positions are pretty

on center spins- try not to travel

unique moves- like ballet jumps, mazurkas, bunny hops

good luck with everything hope you have a great routine!!!

oh yeah, have fun, try your best, and SMILE SMILE SMILE, even if your bad the judges want to see that your confident!!!

  7. present yourself. dont make your movements choppy or fast. make them flow but use lots of power. my sister is pre-preliminary and she places well when she focuses on power and grace. so focus on that and make sure you practice practice practice those elements. good luck!
